Amazon Kindle Fire Update: Ice Cream Sandwich

It didn't take long. In fact it didn't take as long as between the last post on this and this post for it to happen, but the good fellows over at XDA have been cranking away on a good version of Android ICS for the Kindle Fire. It isn't complete, but it sure is good. I've been using it as my "daily driver" for a while now and it is a huge improvement over the original or even the chopped together approach I was taking before.

Yeah, I should have taken that shot with a better camera, but that's the ICS battery monitor showing over 5 days of run time (and plenty to go). They still don't think it's using the battery efficiently.

It has become my note taker, my task calendar (ICS's new Calendar application is really really good), my music remote (Via foobar2000 controller), and of course various readers (Currents, Kindle Reader, Email, etc, etc).

Mike used his to replace his aging CarPC.
